Welcome to the
37th Bobby Bowers Memorial Junior Golf Tournament

The Tournament was created as a memorial and named to honor Springfield Golf and Country Club's first head golf professional, Bobby Bowers.  Bobby was well known throughout the Washington DC area for his work with junior golfers until his untimely death due to cancer in 1974.  This championship is recognized as a major national event in junior golf competition due to the unique format of both stroke and match play.  It's an opportunity for young golfers to test their competitive spirits in a format not often played.

Each year 240 junior golfers from all over the United States and occasionally foreign countries begin stroke play qualifying for match play.  There are four divisions, three boys (16-17 year old, 14-15 year old and 10-13 year old) and one girls division.

Qualifying is a near dawn-to-dusk, one-day marathon round to determine the match play participants in a format that mirrors the US Junior Amateur.  Many of the contestants have gone on to star in college and professional golf; some are head golf professionals.
